estate-root.sh   a library every hook sources: finds the estate
                 root, never runs on its own.
estate-pulse.sh  a detached daemon: refreshes pulse/*.txt
                 (doctor, eval, swarm, compile readings) so the
                 banner can print them without paying for them.
hooks.json       the wiring: 7 events, 9 command entries, each
                 with its own timeout on the command object.
